Lady D...
I am smart, beautiful, passionate and successful. I get inspired and creative just thinking about a new knitting or crochet project. I love to knit and crochet but I like other crafts as well, like cross-stitching, macramé, painting (stencilling) and jewellery making.
I was taught to crochet at a very early age probably around six or seven. Twice a week my mother would send me to a neighbour who lived a couple houses down the street. I remember her saying, I want you to learn from Mrs. Matthews, she will teach you from the book. I must say Mrs. Matthews taught me from the book and since that time I have been able to read and carry out the instructions contained in patterns. This holds true for knitting, crocheting, macramé and sewing patterns, just to name a few.
I was born Dylana Geraldine Morrison to Belizean parents in Vancouver, BC, Canada and raised in,
Belize, Central America. I was exposed to quite a lot of different cultures and people groups. I remember in Belize there was quite an assortment of colourful cotton thread and very expensive patterns available to crochet doilies, tablecloths, etc. There was no great quantities of yarn and I don’t remember seeing anyone around me knitting. I guess due to the tropical climate it was not very feasible to knit sweaters.
I returned to Canada in 1984 not knowing how to knit but was fascinated with the books, magazines and yarns that were available to me, I bought my first knitting book and taught myself to knit within the first month after arriving. I went crazy and bought lots of books, magazines and yarns. By the time my daughter was born in 1986 I had knitted at least seven or eight sweaters and crocheted a couple afghans and pillows to match. Knitting is my passion and although I love to knit I love to teach this art even more. I teach knitting and crocheting every chance I get. I make everything with
